A Little Faith Goes a Long Way

This post shares the second lesson I learnt on the Bob Proctor Cruise:
The first lesson is titled 10 Lessons to A New You. Today’s lesson comes from Mary Manin Morrissey.

I was very touched by the story that Mary shared. Mary Manin Morrissey is a living miracle. As a teenager, she was diagnosed with a kidney problem and was given just 6 months to live. Doctors informed her that her chances of survival would be increased by a few months if the infected kidney was removed. So Mary agreed to go ahead with the operation. On the night before the operation, a lady came to the hospital ward to do some prayers for all those who were due to be operated. When the lady came over to Mary, the lady asked Mary if she believed that she did not even need the operation to live.

Because of her background, Mary found all this to be strange.  So she told the lady that she did not believe that she could live without the operation. The lady then asked Mary to just consider the possibility that after her kidney was removed her health would be completely restored. Even though Mary did not believe in this either, the lady just asked Mary to believe in what she believed for her.

Mary did exactly just that, and today, many decades on, Mary Manin Morrissey is healthy and still with us. Even though her faith alone was not strong enough, she believed in what the lady believed for her. That little faith, that little shred of hope in her, was enough to restore her health.

Mary’s message here was that at times we may not think that we can become what we desire, but even so, we just need to believe in those who believe in us. That little shred of hope, can take us a long way. It can transform our lives.

Today, I will leave you with a quote from Michael Beckwith, and even though we may not have enough faith in our capabilities, let us have faith in the belief that Michael Beckwith and all those other teachers have for each one of us.

“I believe that you’re great, that there’s something magnificent about you. Regardless of what has happened to you in your life, regardless of how young or how old you think you might be, the moment you begin to think properly, this something that is within you, this power within you that’s greater than the world, it will begin to emerge. It will take over your life. It will feed you, it will clothe you, it will guide you, protect you, direct you, sustain your very existence. If you let it! Now that is what I know, for sure.”
Michael Beckwith

Sharon, I was very touched by your post today and yes sometimes the faith of other people in us can see us through.

Sometimes when we move forward in life toward a very big dream, it may feel like too much of a leap in consciousness for us to hold all by ourselves. It is at those times that we need to reach out and find someone who believes in us and shares our vision so much that they will gladly and powerfully hold that vision for us. It is a privilege for them to do so and they know it.

Though your dreams may vary from mine, they all come from that same place. Your dreams are the gateway to your soul. It is the dream realized that sets your soul to dancing and it is the dance that matters, it is the dance that sets you free. Remember, you did not come here to sit on the sidelines and watch. You came here to dance.

May you be blessed to find someone who has that kind of faith in you and your dreams.

Thank you Veronica. It is true that sometimes we cannot go it alone. A little encouragement, a little push and a little support from someone, even a stranger can carry us through to victory.

By the way, I have checked out your video on your site, and wow!. I will watch it everyday, it so so inspirational!

    Hi Sharon,

I love this story! I love it, because is just really feeds hope to our souls - that even when we don’t believe - if someone else does - and if we can believe in that - then all is possible! And, this is just the message I needed to hear, with several things happening right now - you’ve given me hope in what is possible! Thank you Sharon!

Hi Sharon - what a great story! It’s so true, isn’t it, that other people’s faith in us can make all the difference.

My partner and I deal with musicians who are just setting out - and I really feel our encouragement helps them a lot.

Funny timing that I read this post today.

For a lot of different reasons, I really needed to read this. What a great, useful idea.

I believe in God and I like the idea of believing, fully and completely without discounting it, that God has utter belief and faith in me.

    Thank you for this post.
